Dr Qaiser Malik Biography

Dr. Qaiser Malik is a highly accomplished Consultant MSK Radiologist and Clinical Director of Radiology at MSE NHS Trust, which is one of the largest DGH trusts in the country. In his role, he oversees a substantial budget of approximately £50 million and is responsible for managing a team of over 60 radiologists and 500 staff members. Additionally, Dr. Malik serves as the lead medical appraiser for BTUH, where he ensures the appraisal process for 300 doctors runs smoothly.

At MSE NHS Trust, Dr. Malik holds the position of lead for MSK imaging, showcasing his expertise and dedication to this specialised field. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London Medical School, where he contributes to the education and training of medical students.

Dr. Malik has an extensive background in professional service. He has served on the Scientific Programme Committee for the Royal College of Radiologists for a remarkable period of 7 years and has also taken on the role of Newsletter Editor for 2 years. Furthermore, he has made valuable contributions as a member of the British Society of Skeletal Radiologists Executive Committee, primarily focusing on Education and Research, including the allocation of research funds and professorships.

In recent years, Dr. Malik has actively participated in the UKIO conference committee, specifically organising the MSK stream of the conference in both 2020 and 2021. Additionally, he has taken on the responsibility of organising and delivering the Royal College of Radiologists Management Course, specifically designed for leaders in Radiology.

Dr. Malik completed his medical education at Imperial College School of Medicine, where he also obtained a First Class Honours BSc in Anatomy. He furthered his training in the East of England, spending time at distinguished institutions such as Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital, as well as the renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, where he obtained the FRCR qualification.

With a keen interest in musculoskeletal MRI and Ultrasound, Dr. Malik specialises in imaging and treating sports injuries, and has been actively involved in the care of elite athletes. As an enthusiastic medical educator, he delivers lectures on a national and international level and is part of the teaching faculty for DKT. Dr. Malik has also contributed to the medical literature by authoring several peer-reviewed research papers, a book chapter in the latest edition of Chapman’s Handbook of Radiology, and numerous poster presentations.

Beyond his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Malik is passionate about optimising efficiency and effective management within the Radiology department. He is well-versed in the implementation of lean working practices and actively seeks innovation in the field. Furthermore, he possesses a sub-specialist interest in the application of AI in imaging, further highlighting his commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in Radiology.
